Hard Landscaping & Other

We jet wash driveways, patios, paths, and decking for homeowners and businesses across Darlington and the North East.

Outdoor surfaces take a beating from North East weather, and algae, moss, and general grime build up gradually enough that most people don't notice quite how much a driveway or patio has darkened until it's cleaned. A proper jet wash brings the original colour and texture back, and it's one of those jobs that makes a genuinely obvious difference the moment it's done.

01

Driveways

Block paving, tarmac, and concrete driveways all pick up oil residue, moss between joints, and general dirt over time, block paving in particular can look tired once the joints between blocks fill up with moss and algae rather than sand. We clean the full surface and, where needed, can refill joints with fresh sand once cleaning's done, which also helps stop weeds establishing again as quickly.

02

Patios

Natural stone, concrete slabs, and block paving patios are prone to the same build-up as driveways, often worse in shaded or damp corners of a garden where algae has more chance to establish. We match the pressure and method to the material, since some natural stone is softer and more porous than concrete or man-made paving, and needs a gentler approach to avoid damaging the surface itself.

03

Paths

Garden paths, especially ones that see less foot traffic than a driveway, are often the worst affected by moss and algae simply because they don't get walked on or weathered enough to wear it away naturally. Cleared paths are also safer, moss and algae get genuinely slippery in wet weather, which matters more on a path than most people think about until someone's nearly gone over on it.

04

Decking

Timber decking needs particular care when jet washing, too much pressure or the wrong technique can strip and damage the wood fibres themselves rather than just removing surface dirt and algae. We use appropriate pressure and technique for decking specifically, and it's often worth having decking sealed or treated shortly after cleaning, since a freshly cleaned surface is more exposed to weather until it's protected again, see our Driveway, Patio & Decking Sealing page for that side of things.

05

Getting the Pressure Right

The biggest risk with jet washing isn't leaving dirt behind, it's using too much pressure on a surface that can't take it, block paving joints stripped of sand, softer natural stone pitted or etched, or timber decking damaged at the fibre level. We assess the material before starting and adjust pressure and technique accordingly, rather than treating every surface the same way.

06

Commercial Sites

Businesses with car parks, forecourts, or shared driveway areas often need jet washing on a scheduled basis rather than as a one-off, particularly where a tidy, well-maintained exterior matters for how customers perceive the site. We can set up a regular cleaning round for commercial premises alongside any other grounds work we're already doing there.

Coverage Across the North East

We jet wash driveways, patios, paths, and decking across Darlington and out into Durham, Stockton-on-Tees, Middlesbrough, Newton Aycliffe, Bishop Auckland, Northallerton, Hartlepool, Sedgefield, Barnard Castle, Richmond, and Yarm.

07

Environmentally Considerate Cleaning

Where a driveway or patio sits close to borders, lawn, or drains, we're mindful of run-off, particularly where any treatment product is being used alongside the wash itself. We use appropriate techniques and, where relevant, products that minimise impact on surrounding planting and avoid sending anything harmful into drains that lead to watercourses.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Will jet washing damage my driveway or patio?

Not when the pressure and method are matched to the material. Excessive pressure on the wrong surface can cause damage, which is why we assess what we're working with before starting rather than using a single setting for everything.

How often should a driveway or patio be jet washed?

Every one to two years is typical for most surfaces, though shaded, damp areas that encourage algae growth may need more frequent attention than sunnier, more exposed areas.

Can you refill the sand in my block paving after cleaning?

Yes, this is a common add-on once cleaning is done, and it helps keep the paving looking sharp for longer and reduces weed growth between joints.

Will jet washing get rid of oil stains?

It can lift a lot of surface residue, though deeply set oil stains sometimes need additional treatment beyond a standard jet wash to fully remove.

Should I have my surface sealed after jet washing?

It's worth considering, particularly for driveways and patios that see a lot of weather exposure, since sealing helps protect the cleaned surface and slows down how quickly grime and algae build up again.

Can jet washing remove weeds growing between paving?

Yes, the pressure clears surface weeds and moss effectively, though for a longer-lasting result against regrowth, refilling joints with fresh sand or applying a sealant afterwards helps prevent them re-establishing as quickly.

Can you jet wash a shared driveway or private road?

Yes, we take on shared and private access routes regularly, coordinating timing with anyone else using the access where needed.

Tell us what needs cleaning and we'll assess the surface and give you a fixed price before starting.
