Grounds

We carry out garden clearance for homeowners, landlords, and letting agents across Darlington and the North East.

Some gardens need more than routine maintenance to get back on top of, years of accumulated growth, an inherited property that's been left to its own devices, or simply a garden that's got away over a season or two and needs a proper reset. Whatever the state it's in, we can clear it back to a manageable starting point.

01

Full Garden Clearance

This covers overgrown borders, self-seeded growth taking over beds and paths, dead or dying shrubs that need removing, and general accumulated green waste that's built up over time. It's a common job when taking on a new property, whether that's a house purchase, a rental changeover, or a garden that's simply been neglected for a while and needs bringing back to a clean, workable state before anything else can be planned for it.

We'll take stock of what's there, what's worth keeping, and what needs to go, and clear it back properly, leaving the site tidy and ready for whatever comes next, whether that's new planting, turfing, or simply routine maintenance from here on.

02

Leaf Clearance and Seasonal Clean-Ups

Autumn leaf fall is one of the most common reasons for a one-off clearance, a heavy leaf covering left on a lawn for too long can smother the grass underneath, leading to yellowing and dieback by spring, and leaves left on paths and driveways get slippery and unpleasant underfoot, particularly once they start to break down. We clear leaves from lawns, paths, driveways, and borders, and can set this up as a recurring autumn visit rather than a single one-off if you'd rather it was dealt with automatically each year.

Seasonal clean-ups more generally, whether that's an end-of-season tidy in autumn or a spring reset after winter, cover cutting back dead growth, clearing debris, and generally getting a garden looking presentable again after a season of being left to its own devices.

03

Letting Agents and Landlords

Clearing a garden between tenancies is one of the jobs we're regularly asked to do at short notice, since an overgrown garden is one of the more visible things a new tenant or a viewing will notice. We can turn these around quickly and are happy to work directly with letting agents managing multiple properties.

04

What Happens to the Waste

All green waste and cleared material is taken away as standard. Larger clearances involving significant volumes of waste are quoted with this factored in, so there's no separate surprise cost for disposal once the work's done.

05

Working Out What to Keep

Not everything in an overgrown garden needs to go. Established shrubs or small trees that just need cutting back rather than removing, plants worth relocating rather than discarding, or features hidden under growth that are worth uncovering rather than clearing away, all get flagged before we make a final call on removal. We'd always rather ask than assume, particularly on a property that's new to you where you might not yet know what's actually in the garden.

06

Combining Clearance with Other Work

Garden clearance often overlaps with other jobs, a hedge that needs cutting back at the same time, a couple of dead shrubs that need pruning rather than full removal, or a lawn underneath years of growth that will need cutting once it's exposed again. Mention everything you're looking at when you get in touch and we can quote for the full job together, rather than treating each part as a separate visit.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How overgrown does a garden need to be before it's a clearance job rather than routine maintenance?

If it's reached the point where regular mowing or trimming alone won't sort it out, years of growth, dead shrubs needing removal, paths and beds lost under self-seeded growth, it's generally a clearance job. We're happy to advise honestly which it is when we take a look.

Can you clear a garden I've just bought or inherited without knowing what's underneath all the growth?

Yes, this is a common starting point. We'll assess what's there as we go and flag anything worth discussing before removing it, in case there's something you'd want to keep.

Do you offer a regular leaf clearance service each autumn?

Yes, we can set this up as a recurring seasonal visit rather than a one-off, particularly useful for gardens with larger trees nearby.

Will you remove dead or diseased shrubs as part of a clearance?

Yes, this is a routine part of most clearance jobs, and we'll flag anything that looks like it might be a wider health issue rather than just old growth, see our Tree Health Surveys page if that's a concern for trees specifically.

Can you turn a clearance around quickly for a tenancy changeover?

Yes, we understand the timescales involved with lettings and can usually prioritise these where needed.

Can you clear a garden in stages if I want to spread the cost?

Yes, for larger jobs we're happy to discuss a phased approach if that suits your budget or timeline better than one full clearance in a single visit.

Do you offer a free assessment before quoting?

Yes, we visit and assess the garden properly before giving a fixed price in writing, there's no charge for the visit and no obligation to go ahead.

Tell us the state of the garden and what you're hoping to achieve, and we'll come and take a look and give you a fixed price before anything starts.
