Tree Work

Brittania Tree Care offers emergency tree work across Darlington and the wider North East, with same-day response wherever we can manage it and out-of-hours callouts for situations that genuinely can't wait.

A tree doesn't wait for a convenient time to come down. Whether it's happened overnight in high wind, blocked your drive on the morning of a busy day, or is hanging over a fence looking like it's about to go, you need someone who can get to you quickly and deal with it safely, not a callback in three days' time.

01

Fallen Tree Removal

Once a tree is down, the priority is making the area safe, then removing it without causing further damage to whatever it landed on or near. Fallen trees are often under tension in ways that aren't obvious just by looking, branches pinned against a fence or a wall, weight resting unevenly across a driveway, so it's not a job to tackle with a domestic chainsaw and good intentions.

We assess how the tree has come down, what it's resting against, and the safest way to cut and remove it in sections, then clear the site properly, whether that's a garden, a driveway, or a shared boundary with a neighbour.

02

Clearing Blocked Access

A tree or a large branch across a driveway, a private road, or a path isn't just inconvenient, it can stop you getting a car off the drive, block access for deliveries, or leave a business unable to open. We prioritise these calls because we understand what's at stake when access is cut off, and we'll get a team out as quickly as we can to clear the way.

03

Storm and Wind Damage Response

The North East gets its fair share of severe weather, and storm damage tends to arrive in a rush, several calls at once after a bad night. We deal with split limbs, partially fallen trees still caught in neighbouring branches (known as hangers, and genuinely dangerous to leave), and general storm debris. If a tree looks stable but has visible new damage after a storm, it's worth getting it checked rather than waiting to see what happens next time the wind picks up.

04

Same-Day Callouts

For anything that's become urgent, a leaning tree, a large hanging branch, storm damage, blocked access, we'll do our best to get to you on the same day you call. How quickly depends on what else is on that day and where in the North East you are, but emergency jobs get moved to the front of the queue.

05

Out-of-Hours Emergency Callouts

Trees don't only come down during office hours, and we know that a tree through a fence at 9pm or blocking a road first thing in the morning needs a real answer, not an answerphone message. Call or message us and we'll let you know honestly whether we can get to you that night or first thing, and what the situation needs in the meantime to keep everyone safe.

06

What to Do While You're Waiting for Us

If a tree or branch has come down, keep people and pets well away from the area, including from underneath any part of the tree still caught up in branches above, since these can shift or fall with no warning. Don't attempt to move fallen timber yourself if it's resting under tension, and if power lines are involved, do not approach the tree at all, contact the Northern Powergrid emergency line and stay well clear until they've confirmed it's safe.

Why Call Us

We're a team-based operation, not a one-man band, which matters most when speed and safety both count. Fixed pricing agreed before we start, even on urgent jobs, so you're not left with a surprise bill on top of a stressful day. We cover Darlington and out into Durham, Stockton-on-Tees, Middlesbrough, Newton Aycliffe, Bishop Auckland, Northallerton, Hartlepool, Sedgefield, Barnard Castle, Richmond, and Yarm.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How fast can you get here?

For genuine emergencies we aim for same-day, and out-of-hours where the situation calls for it. Call us and we'll give you an honest answer based on what's happening and where you are.

Is emergency call-out more expensive than a planned job?

There can be a premium for out-of-hours or genuinely urgent work, reflecting the speed and priority involved, but we'll always agree a price with you before starting, even on an emergency job.

A branch is stuck up in the tree above the one that fell, is that urgent?

Yes. A hanging branch caught in the canopy above (sometimes called a hanger) can come down at any time with no warning, and should be treated the same as a fully fallen tree until it's been dealt with safely.

What if the fallen tree involves power lines?

Keep well away and contact Northern Powergrid's emergency line immediately. Don't attempt to clear anything near power lines yourself, and don't let us, or anyone, near the tree until the lines have been made safe.

Do you deal with insurance claims for storm damage?

We can provide photos, a written report of the damage, and an invoice that most insurers will accept as part of a claim. We're not loss adjusters, so for anything more formal it's worth speaking to your insurer directly, but we'll give you what you need to support the claim.

Can you remove a tree that's fallen across a shared boundary or road?

Yes, we deal with these regularly. If it's a public road, it's worth reporting it to the council or contacting us so we can advise on next steps, especially if traffic management is needed.

If a tree has come down or is about to, don't wait. Call us directly, we answer for genuine emergencies, or send a photo over WhatsApp so we know what we're dealing with before we arrive.
